The album's first single, "California Gurls" (featuring Snoop Dogg), has scanned 3.6 million downloads, while all individual digital tracks from the album have sold a combined 5 million units, according to SoundScan. Put another way, sales of albums and track-equivalent albums (where 10 digital tracks equal an album) for "Teenage Dream" totaled 689,000, according to SoundScan.

Katy Perry Perform In UK: American singer Katy Perry says she will apply to become a citizen of the UK as soon as she weds Russell Brand. “When I get married next month, one of the first things I’ll do is apply for dual citizenship,” the Sun quoted her as saying. “I’m not too sure if I have to take a test as I’ve not had time to look into it. But England is like my second home,” she added. Katy, who is in the UK promoting her second album ‘Teenage Dream’, tried to stay mum about her fiancé.

“I’m trying not to speak about Russell and am concentrating on my music. I’m trying to keep a hold on the celebrity thing. I’m a singer. However, her attempt couldn’t last long. She said: “There’s a track on the new album called Firework, which is about him directly. Not to mention she makes up half of one of Hollywood’s hottest power couples, with the other half being Russell Brand, of course!

There are many reasons why Perry has the power to sell merchandise, whatever it maybe – records, clothing, ringtones, etc – but the most essential is her marketability. And in this age of information what better way is there to market yourself than through social networking sites like twitter? At the moment Katy has 3,653,905 twitter fans, which means that with one click of a mouse she can reach the equivalent of the entire state of Utah, plus some. Side note: Even with as many followers as she has teen icon Justin Bieber has approx 1,500,000 more.

Katy Perry Review Of Teenage Dream (Video): Reviewing a Katy Perry album  is an odd undertaking on several levels. The first is that I don’t know that there has been an artist less targeted at an early 30’s straight white male Internet music critic, since C&C Music  Factory. The second is that Perry is actually two entirely distinct artists wrapped into one attractive package. Perry’s second full length album, Teenage Dream, is mostly disposable fembot ear candy conjured up by the evil songwriting/production geniuses Max Martin and Dr. Luke. However, at certain points Perry moves in a more interesting direction, as a jaded, heart-on-her sleeve rocker-ish chick. These tantalizing glimpses behind the pop star veneer make it unclear how to judge the album: is it a strictly commercial product, or an artistic exercise?

It is pretty easy to tell whether a particular song is going to be a pop or artistic track from the first note of Perry’s vocals, as she possesses two entirely different singing voices, as she moves from a high pitched, almost weightless tone on the sorority anthem in the making “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)” to a more powerful, deeper tone on the more serious tracks.

Both segments of the album have hits and misses. On the pop side of things, the aforementioned “Friday” is a catchy recounting of Perry’s PG-13 misadventures which lacks the calculated raunch of songs like Ke$ha’s “Tik Tok,” which explore similar themes. Likewise the smash “California Gurls” is destined for a lasting legacy as a summer necessity (especially in future years, after the radio has given the damn thing a rest). However, Snoop’s hip-hop cred takes a serious hit for the line “bikinis, zucchinis, martinis, no weenies.

Katy Perry Teenage Dream Videos: Performence In New York: She took to the stage earlier this month on top of a giant banana split, and Katy Perry continued her string of larger-than-life performances on the Today Show in New York. Taking inspiration from the cover of her new album Teenage Dream, the singer appeared on a giant pink cloud to belt out her latest hits from the album, which launched yesterday. Russell Brand's bride-to-be showed off her pre-wedding figure in a tiny flesh-coloured leotard embellished with pink and red stones and pink heels.

Her hair, still showing the multi-coloured highlights she debuted this week, had extensions added and piled into a high ponytail. She finished the look with bright red lips. Katy's fans camped out overnight for a glimpse of the star, and she showed her appreciation by ensuring they were nice and comfortable during their sleep-out.

The 25-year-old tweeted, 'I had special #TeenageDream pillow & blankys made just for those of u that r camping out for the Today show! Yay!'The quirky star seemed excited ahead of her big performance: 'Gnight humidifier, Gnight Chanel sleeping eye mask, gnight new glittery costume, gnight new rainbow colored hair, gnight people camping out!'
